Christmas digital projects

I've started working on the calendars for my family.  This is a tradition I started about 5 years ago when I made 6 photo calendars by hand.  Let me just say I don't recommend going this route!  The following year I made one of the Creative Memories Digital Calendars.  (You can check out the calendar I made for 2010 here.)  I used the predesigned templates (some of which are totally free) to design the calendars.  What a simple, and oh so loved gift!  My sister asks each year if it will be here by Christmas now.  What I like about these calendars is that they are made with a very heavy paper, the same matte photo paper used in making their matte digital pages, and at the end of the year, the calendar portion detaches and you can put both pieces into a year in review album.  So fun!

The other gift I plan to work on this year is for Garrett's teacher.  She has been a teacher for 38 years and is thinking of retiring after this year.  I found this project on Creative Memories digital 411 blog that I'm thinking  of making for her.  Leave a comment and tell me what you think:

Like stamping? Check out the Craft Pad on Ning

I participate in a ning group that is focused on using CTMH products.  I am a die-hard Creative Memories product lover, but they don't have stamps.  This is where CTMH comes in for me.  I love using their stamps and inks on my projects.

So this ning group is having a 12 days of giveaways.  Come on by, join the group and register for a chance to win some cool stuff!

Official Press Release: Celebrity Nancy O’Dell Partners with Creative Memories

Celebrity Mom Nancy O’Dell Partners with Creative Memories to Bring a Fresh Perspective to Scrapbooking Projects

ST. CLOUD, Minnesota. – This October, award-winning entertainment journalist and TV host Nancy O’Dell will join Creative Memories, a leader in the scrapbooking industry, in launching a new line of products aimed at making scrapbooking quicker, easier and more fun for busy moms.

Whether interviewing celebrities on the red carpet or co-hosting Access Hollywood for the past 13 years, O’Dell has always found time to capture her favorite memories in scrapbook albums.

“I take so many photos at my children’s events, home and work,” O’Dell said. “I love having them to look at later with my family and friends.”

O’Dell said she’s been making albums since she was a child. “It’s something I learned from my mother and grandmother,”
she said. “They both created beautiful scrapbooks and showed me how important it is to have special memories you can hand down from generation to generation. It’s a tradition I now continue with my children.”

O’Dell’s love for memory-keeping makes her a perfect partner for Creative Memories, a company that started the scrapbooking phenomenon nearly 25 years ago.

“I know first-hand how important scrapbook albums are to kids,” O’Dell said, sharing her memories of the albums her mother made for her. “When I look at those albums, I feel like I was the most loved child in the world. I want my children to have that same feeling, that same sense of family connection,” she said. “There is no question that having those albums made me feel important. And I can already see that developing in my own family.”

O’Dell said her friends are surprised when they learn that she creates albums. “They think it’s too complicated, time consuming and ‘old school’ but it doesn’t have to be,” she said. “I saw an opportunity to partner with Creative Memories to simplify the process and add my own sense of style.”

“’I’m really quick,” O’Dell said. “I wanted to design scrapbooking products that allowed me to create ten pages in ten minutes.”

The Nancy O’Dell Collection by Creative Memories will feature a sophisticated design palette and motifs that reflect O’Dell’s own esthetic point of view and fashion sense. The first introduction in the collection is an all-in-one scrapbooking bundle that offers everything busy moms need to create an album easily and quickly. The bundle includes an album, no-fail page layouts, decorative papers and embellishments, clever tools, an easy-to-follow 50-page idea book and even a designer-inspired tote to keep everything organized on the go. A downloadable version of the designs will also be available to create digital photo books.

At Creative Memories, Vice President of Global Product Development Loren Castronovo is excited to be working with such a passionate advocate of scrapbooking. "Nancy brings a celebrity’s flair and a mother’s heart to this project,” she said. “She loves taking photos and understands how important albums are to families.”

Castronovo added that the new collection will appeal to all types of customers. “We can’t wait to introduce Nancy’s scrapbooking line this fall, then build on the collection in 2011 with other products that give moms really easy ways to organize, celebrate and share their family photos.”

The Nancy O’Dell Collection by Creative Memories will be available October 1, 2010 at or through Creative Memories Consultants.

Black & White Power Palette

First of all I have to mention that Creative Memories is having a HUGE sale on Power Palettes, Storybook Creator Plus and some of the organizers.  Head on over and check it out!

I've been having fun with the new Creative Memories Black & White Power Palette.  I did these pages from a wedding my son was in last May.  The wedding was at Quail Botanical Gardens in Carlsbad, CA and the reception was at the Catamaran Resort.  I used some of the predesigned pages and did these 8 layouts in about 3 hours.  I love the elegant designs of this palette.  They really do work for a variety of themes too.

Calendar Creations

I went to Big Bear in December on a scrappy retreat and got some great pages done, including a great 2010 calendar I made for my sister using Creative Memories Storybook Creator Plus. The whole thing only took me about 8 hours (and probably would have been faster if I hadn't been chatting so much!)

Where have I been...

...well here, but working in my day job A LOT! I'm an accountant and we have a 6/30 fiscal year end so I've been putting in long hours at work and not spending too much time scrapping. I have been trying to make new memories with my hubby & son when I'm not at work so when I can scrap again I've got lots of topics. I do have 1 layout I finished recently that I'll try to post this weekend. In the mean time, happy scrapping!
